Kelley “Nessmuk” hunter’s axe

This prototype model is cast Dendritic D2 steel tempered to Rockwell 55-56. The head is gunmetal blued. The bits are sharpened in the “Nessmuk” style with one edge coarse and the other shaving sharp. The 10 ˝ inch handle is flame-hardened hickory, wrapped with my own hand-made waxed nylon cordage, for a non-slip grip. The sheath is made of oiled horsehide leather, saddle stitched with nylon cordage with antiqued elk antler button closure. The top of the sheath is reinforced in two places with my own hand-made rawhide so the blades won’t cut the sheath when inserting the axe. Weight of ax in sheath is 1 pound 9 ounces. I call this a “prototype” because it’s closer to the final version of this model as I imagine it, but not quite there yet. Price is $250.00 for this one.

Shipping is $10.00 per hawk and spare handle. Total $260.00
